Step one: sit in a comfortable chair and take a moment to relax. Then while holding your neck and head still, begin moving your eyes from side to side, left to right.
Step two: Repeat this back and forth movement about twenty times. Then stop, close your eyes and relax.
Step three: For a moment, scan through your body and simply be aware of any particular sensations of tension or discomfort.
Step four: Repeat step one, take a deep breathe, begin back and forth movement. Close your eyes and relax. A few seconds later repeat for a third time. Most people will notice a calming of mental activity and a feeling of relaxation.
Step five: after going through this exercise a few times, you will get the hang of it. You should repeat as you get into bed at night. Some people find they can eventually achieve the same result by doing the eye movement with their eyes closed.
